ICE-CREAM/TEA BOWL
Width – 11 cm
Volume – 300 ml
Made with the local red clay, these bowls have a layer of slip on the surface inside, making them less porous and ideal for wash. Each bowl comes in a set with a brass spoon made by traditional knife makers of Kachchh.
Drinking tea in Rakaabi (saucer) is a common practice in Kachchh. Usually, in order to avoid heat of the tea, we often drink it out of a saucer rather than cups. This helps the tea to cool faster. These bowls can be used for drinking tea and as well as for serving ice creams.
Inspired from a traditional bowl called Phool vadki, which followed the tradition of using one vessel for serving variety of food, both warm and cold, was used for serving both sheera (a traditional sweet) and dal (the cooked lentils) in one. Emerging form the same idea, these bowls too are not restricted to get used for a particular kind of food.
However, tea out of an earthen cup tastes so much different and thus is a choice of all!
Turn your scoop of kulfi more refreshing. Serve it in these Terracotta bowls!
